TV3 Group viewership up 55% in first quarter of 2017

Flagship channel ‘TV3’ saw audience growth of 34% in the quarter, versus the same period in 2016
 
‘3e’ grew audience share by 26% in the quarter
 
TV3 Group’s new channel ‘be3’ already Ireland’s Sixth most popular TV channel
Consolidated TV viewership figures released yesterday by TAM / Nielsen for January to March 2017 show viewing to TV3 Group channels is up 55% versus the same period in 2016.  
 
Flagship channel TV3 recorded a 34% increase in share of viewing. Contributing to the strong performance in the quarter was the return of TV3’s originated content including Red Rock, Gogglebox Ireland and Pat Kenny Tonight all of which delivered series-best audiences.  
 
3e grew its share of viewing in the quarter by 26% from 2.5% to 3.2%. This year 3e is the exclusive broadcaster of Celebrity Big Brother and Big Brother, I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here Now and Britain’s Got More Talent.
 
TV3 Group’s new channel be3 recorded a 2.4% share of viewing for the quarter, making it the 6th most watched channel in the country after RTE1, TV3, RTE2, BBC1 and 3e. be3 recorded a higher share of viewing in Q1 2017 than many established channels in the market including TG4, Channel 4, Sky One or BBC 2.
 
On March 15th, TV3 Group recorded an all-day share of viewing of 23.8%, which was its highest since Rugby World Cup 2015.
 
Commenting on the performance, TV3 Group Director of Programming, Bill Malone said: “It is heartening to see that much of TV3’s success is being driven by quality Irish production from Ireland AM through to The Restaurant, Gogglebox Ireland and Red Rock. Our strong performance in the first quarter will be boosted further by new programming in the coming months.”
